Incomplete: Destroy or be destroyed

Author’s note: The very beginnings of a Lie To Me* one-shot

Rain lashed heavily against the window as the nights temptress struck her chord. The wind howled, winding its destructive course through the streets of Washington DC. Cars lay on their backs; trees fallen across roads yet the streets remained deserted of human life, leaving an open path for the God’s revenge.

The lights flickered on and off in the office building of the Lightman Group with the temperament of the storm. Slumped in an armchair sat Cal Lightman, a mask of peace had settled over his sleeping face. His head lolled to the side, mouth agape, drool pooling down his chin.

Can you hear me?

Writing Prompt: Lost

Lost. Broken. Help. Someone.

I can’t think. Breathe. The pressure halts me, roots me to the spot as I watch the world trail by. I reach out but there’s no one in a sea of bodies. I’m floundering. There’s nothing to ground me but my feet are like bricks to the ground. I jitter and shake. A mess. I’m a mess. Can you hear me?

Excuse me.

Excuse me!

Can you hear me? Please. He just keeps walking. No one stops. No one spares a glance. I try to move but I’m stuck. Frozen in place. Trapped within my own sick mind. I want to get out. Will no one listen to my pleas? Help me.

Please…
